Norwegian A1 is suitable for those who have never learned Norwegian before, helping them to pick-up the language from scratch.  At level A1 you will learn to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very simple phrases aimed to cover the basic needs such as introducing yourself and others. We will practice asking and answering questions about personal details such as where someone lives, people you or they might know and things you or they may have.

The goal for this course is to be able to interact in a simple way with another person who speaks slowly and clearly and is also prepared to help on occasion. The teacher will speak slowly so that you should be able to get used to the language and its pronunciation.

You can start with Norwegian A2 after completing Norwegian A1, or if you already have some basic knowledge of Norwegian. In this course, we focus on spoken use of the language and basic grammar with students learning frequently used expressions related to everyday conversation.  This will let you learn to give basic information about yourself and family, do some shopping and begin to get settled in the community.

After this course, you should be able to manage simple conversation situations requiring a direct exchange of information on familiar grounds. You will learn to describe, in simple terms, aspects of your background, immediate environment and basic needs, and in addition to the language you will learn a bit about Norway and Norwegian culture.  This course will strengthen and develop the basic skills students already have.

One can start on level B1 providing the student already has a basic knowledge of Norwegian. Now you want to master normal, everyday situations. You already understand some Norwegian, but it is difficult for you to express yourself clearly and understandably. In this course, we use varied texts and different tasks to improve your grammar and be able to speak more fluently and effortlessly.

We emphasize increasing knowledge about Norwegian society while giving the student a greater confidence in spoken Norwegian.  Here we talk about topics that you often encounter in connection with work, school, or leisure for example, using various texts, newspaper articles and illustrations as inspiration for dialogue and discussion.  At level B1 you will learn to write simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest and your vocabulary will grow to help you describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions. We practice presenting arguments to explain and justify opinions and plans with the goal of feeling confident in terms of both written and spoken Norwegian.

This course is suitable for those who want to take the language test at higher levels.  You have a good vocabulary by this point and handle most everyday situations. In addition, you have good knowledge of the main elements of Norwegian grammar. Now you want to be able to express your opinions, argue and write well constructed texts.

Through our B2 course, students will develop a vocabulary that is important for work and study in Norway.  By mastering level B2, students will be able to understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics. Active participation in technical discussions within one's own discipline should now also be possible, while general conversations with native speakers can now be spontaneous and at a level of fluency to make them enjoyable for both parties. In addition, students should be able to write detailed texts on a wide range of subjects, explain a viewpoint on a topical issue, and argue for and against various options.

Our B2 course will really sharpen your skills in Norwegian.

At level C1 you will master Norwegian for both the workplace and everyday life. By this point you're speaking effortlessly, spontaneously and fluently - now you want to expand your vocabulary and cut out any small grammatical errors that have crept into your daily speech. In addition, you will want to express yourself through writing at a high level, making this course ideal for those who want to perfect both the spoken and written elements of the language.

Norwegian C1 will perfect your grammar and further expand your vocabulary. We will work with current news, Norwegian fiction, non-fiction, reports and documentaries to stimulate this improvement, with an emphasis on discussion and analysis, written summaries and persuasive texts. At level C1 we will delve into Norwegian politics, culture and history. In other words, this course will get you to think and write like a Norwegian.
